Elephant Back Safari  Elephant Ride or also called Elephant Safari is a major attraction and the most popular and adventurous  way in Chitwan to encounter with the and number of reptiles scores of wild animals including rare One- Horned Rhinos and to elusive Royal Bengal Tigers as well as hundreds of species of Birds and  number of Reptiles,Wild Boar, Red Deer and other creatures of the jungle can be seen when you are at the back of the trained elephants and around the Jungles. Jeep Safari: Jeep Safari is an exciting ride in CNP. You can take nature best view on open top Jeep into the dense forest of Jungle. Through the open jeeps, visitors can catch glimpses of rare wild flora and fauna in their natural habitats. Jeep drive will also take you to 'Crocodile Breeding Center' at Kasara of CNP's headquarters, where you can observe breeding activities of Crocodile.

To do the Jeep Safari you get two option: 

The first option is a short safari, this will take about 4 hours and you are in the jeep with a maximum of 7 persons. With your back you will sit to the side of the jeep. The safari will start around 13.00 P.M. and finishes around 17.00 P.M.

The second option is a full day safari. The jeep is more comfortable, better seats and a private car. This trip will start early in the morning and finish around the same as the short drive. 

Tip: During a jeep safari you should not wear bright colors. This will scare the animals so off white, black, grey, dark green are preferred.

Image result for elephant breeding center in chitwanElephant Breeding Center Located 3km outside Sauraha next to Chitwan National Park. Nepal is one of the few large elephant breeding centers in the world. It's accessible by tour, boat or by walking from Sauraha which is about 3km.

The Sauraha elephant breeding center was established in 1989 with 5 stud bulls and 15 females along with 6 babies. Today there are 20+ elephants within the breeding center. The center was set up to try to increase the population of the Asian elephant in the region through breeding. You will have an opportunity to visit the breeding center.

The indigenous local people, the Tharus, are also of immense interest.Tharu is an ethnic group indigenous to the Terai, the Southern foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal and India. They are people of the forest in Chitwan, they have lived in the forest for hundreds of years, practicing a short fallow shifting cultivation. They planted rice, mustard, corn and lentils, but also collected forest products such as wild fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants and materials to build their houses, hunted deer, rabbit and wild boar and went fishing in the rivers and oxbow lakes. They are recognized as an official nationality by the government of Nepal. The majority of Tharu live in Nepal where they constitute 13.5% of the total population. They are also several endogenous sub-groups of Tharu. The Tharu village is situated very close to the Royal Chitwan National Park.

The village tour is famous for close and personal observation of the Tharu culture. The village itself is comprised of several mud and reed huts. Domestic and farm animals roam around or are in enclosure. There's a small museum there which displays the tools and traditional clothes people use out in the fields. As you walked into the village you realized that the villagers were much used to tourists and lens flare. Tharu village walk revealed a lot of things, such as to witness the daily life-style and activities of the Tharu communities. A professional guide/ expert naturalist will accompany you through the area and help you gather insights into the Tharu way of life.

How To Get Chitwan National Park
